Garnachas de Gredos

Recovering the identity of a region through its most traditional and ancestral crop is exactly what is happening in this central area of Spain, a mountainous zone where the Garnacha variety was traditionally grown. This revival is not a passing trend, as it has an enormous amount to offer the world of wine lovers.

The Garnacha variety could be described as reborn, since it went through a difficult period in the 1980s when it was considered a second class grape. Today, however, it is one of the most highly regarded varieties, gaining more followers every day.

In the Sierra de Gredos, where the soils are poor and mainly composed of sands resulting from the degradation of granite, Garnacha can produce wines of remarkable character—provided that low yields are respected.

It produces wines with a light color; Garnacha has thin skins with juicy, sweet pulp and aromas of red fruits, spices, herbs, or flowers.

Because it is a thin skinned variety, it has a low tannin content, which gives the wine a smooth and silky texture.

It expresses very well the terroir in which it is grown and is highly sensitive to losing its qualities when yields are too high.

On the palate, it is characterized by its easy and pleasant drinkability, with low acidity and little astringency. Fluid, aromatic, and mineral wines that will delight those who enjoy them.
